On June 11 of the current year “Education” Public Support Association of Youth of Azerbaijan (EPSAYA) public union implemented a half-day training course in connection with the project “Combating human trafficking begins with enlightenment” for 28 young people in Jalilabad branch of Azerbaijan State Pedagogical University in Jalilabad city with the financial support (8000 manat) of the Agency for State Support to Non-Governmental Organizations of the Azerbaijan Republic. 28 young people aged 16-29, 21 girls and 7 boys have participated in the training course with the support of the Lankaran-Astara Regional Youth and Sport Department in Jalilabad region. Besides the staff of the organization Vugar Javadov, the representative on Jalilabad region of Lankaran-Astara Regional Youth and Sport Department, as a guest, Farrukh Aliyev, the psychologist of Astara District Central Hospital Public Legal Entity, as a trainer, and Ziya Ismayilov, the head of the South Regional Centre of the Ombudsman Apparatus, as an expert have participated in the training course, shared their knowledge and experiences with the youth and answered the questions of the participants. During the training course the staff and the participants discussed a lot of themes on human trafficking – “General information on human trafficking, Causes of human trafficking and ways of being involved in human trafficking, Needs and problems of victims of human trafficking, National and international legislation againist human trafficking, Combating human trafficking in Azerbaijan, The National Action Plan on Combating Trafficking in Human Beings in the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2025-2030, The Main Department on Combating Trafficking in Human Beings at the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Hotline – 152, The Coalition of Non-Governmental Organizations againist Trafficking in Human Beings” as well as watching to the different social videos related to the topics throughout the entire session. During the training course the staff used different interactive methods, such as presentations, brain storming, focus group discussions, interactive group works, energizers, mutual exchange of ideas with participants and experts. All participants were presented with relevant certificates at the end of the training course. In the end the participants and the staff, as well as the guests and the experts gave their views on the project and thanked to the donor – the Agency for State Support to Non-Governmental Organizations of the Azerbaijan Republic for implementing such kind of actual project for the local youth. It should be noted that the aim of the 3-month project covering the dates of May 01 – July 31, 2026 is to organize enlightenment and awareness of young people on a regional scale about human trafficking and combating human trafficking. Let us add that the next training courses will be held in Masalli on 18.06.2026, in Astara on 25.06.2026, and in Lankaran on 02.07.2026 with the support of the Lankaran-Astara Regional Youth and Sport Department.
